Snarled Up In Swindon

Traffic everywhere is getting worse and especially at Christmas. Below is a poem about how bad traffic in Swindon at Christmas is.

"Come do your Christmas shopping in Swindon." the T.V advert cried. But be prepared you shoppers they're taking you for a ride.

They're knocking down all the car parks so there's nowhere to park your car. And all the roads have been blocked off so come by bike its best by far.

Queens Drive? No you wont get through. Octocal Way will be even worse. You'll find yourself just motionless and all you'll do is curse.

Thamesdown Drive? It takes a week to get from end to end. So by the time you make it to the shops there'll be no Christmas presents left to send.

You'll need to plan your route in town to dodge the current mess. It would be quicker to do your Christmas shop in John O'Groats I guess.

Whitworth Road? Forget it; it's jammed seven days a week. If you dare to venture down that road it drives you up the creek.

Akers Way? Not a good idea it really is a joke. I was overtaken six times in the queue by a bike peddled by some old bloke.

Cricklade Road? Don't bother you'll be standing still all day. And don't be tempted into the bus lane or sixty pounds fine you'll pay.

To get from East to West of town can take a day or more. So put a flask and a packed lunch in your car because now you know the score.

The A419. Are you joking, it's a car park can't you see. you can park your car there all day long and its absolutely free.

You come do your Christmas shopping in Swindon it'll be good to have you here. And with any luck you might get back home to celebrate by New Year.
